Precious Plastic and Robots at Medway Fun Palace

Every October people up and down the country create Fun Palaces full of science, creativity and fun.

Fun Palaces support people to create local events for all ages, across the UK and beyond, sharing and celebrating the genius in everyone.   [caption id="attachment_462844" align="aligncenter" width="640"] Photo: Xtina Lamb[/caption]

This year we joined Nucleus Arts at Medway Fun Palace at The Pentagon Shopping Centre in Chatham.

Together with artist Xtina Lamb from Intra Arts we helped people turn plastic bags into art.

With our Hopes & Dreams lanterns still hanging in The Pentagon Centre, we wanted to show people how they could make their own Precious Plastic art at home.

With a glue stick, old shopping bags and an iron,  you can turn waste into a masterpiece - and we saw plenty of masterpieces at Medway Fun Palace.

From 10am until 4pm we helped over 80 people of all ages recycle old plastic into penguins, cats, giraffes, flowers and rainbows.   [gallery columns="5" size="medium" ids="462845,462846,462847,462848,462849"]   Medway Fun Palace was aiming to be the biggest in the UK and included;
  • Science experiments from The Historic Dockyard Chatham
  • Music from Medway Pride Radio
  • Workshops from Icon Theatre

There was also a flashmob dance routine and a special appearance from Titan - an eight foot robot who can sing, dance and even do impressions of celebrities including Alan Carr!

A big thank you to Xtina Lamb and James, Nucleus Arts and The Pentagon Centre for an amazing day.
