Medway Light Nights returned in February 2023 – and the location of this festival was Chatham.

The first Medway Light Nights free festival attracted more than 60,000 people to Rochester in 2022.

We launched the event on Friday 10th February with a Lantern Parade, which we organised together with Cohesion Plus and Intra Arts. Hundreds of Medway school children lit up the town centre with lanterns created by them in classroom workshops led by Intra Arts.

The two-day light extravaganza also featured awesome and fun light installations celebrating local stories and the area, all with the theme of ‘Love Chatham’.

You can see images and video from the festival and parade by searching #MedwayLightNights and #LoveChatham on social media.

Medway Light Nights is a Medway Council event produced by Emergency Exit Arts and supported by Arts Council England.

Medway Light Nights 2023 draws on the success of the 2022 event, which attracted more than 60,000 people to historic Rochester.
