I’m absolutely delighted to be joining the Ideas Test team as Audience Engagement Officer. As someone who was born and bred in Medway, this role feels incredibly special. I’m proud of where I come from and passionate about celebrating the creativity, history and culture that make Medway such a unique place to live.
Throughout my career I’ve worked alongside communities across Medway and Kent, supporting people to feel more connected, confident and empowered. Whether through my work in the charity sector, developing partnerships with local organisations, or helping people access opportunities that improve their wellbeing, I’ve always believed that the strongest communities are built through listening, collaboration and creating opportunities for people to shape the things that matter to them.
Alongside my professional career, creativity has become a huge part of my life. I’m a practising ceramic artist, Co-Founder of Medway Clay Community, and an active member of Kent Potters Association. Over the past few years I’ve been fortunate to exhibit my work through Medway Open Studios and other local exhibitions, and I’ve experienced first-hand the incredible way creativity brings people together, builds confidence and creates lasting friendships.
One of the things that attracted me most to Ideas Test is its commitment to co-creation and socially engaged practice. I love that the organisation doesn’t simply deliver projects for communities, but works with people to develop creative experiences that reflect their ideas, interests and stories. That approach really resonates with my own values and the way I’ve worked throughout my career.
Being local also means I have a genuine affection for Medway’s rich heritage, from its maritime history and industrial past to its vibrant and growing creative community. There is so much talent, history and creativity here, and I’m excited to play a part in helping more people discover, celebrate and contribute to it.
I’m looking forward to getting out into communities across Medway and Swale, meeting people, listening to their ideas, supporting creative projects and helping ensure that everyone feels welcome to take part, whatever their background or experience.
