TÖNE, an exciting new international festival of sonic and visual arts that takes place at a range of unique and inspiring sites along the River Medway at Chatham, including Sun Pier House, POP (64-66 High Street), Gun Wharf, LV21, Fort Amherst, and the Historic Dockyard.
TÖNE artists and Directors, Claudia Molitor and Julie Louise Bacon, invite you to join in a free, pre-festival programme of residencies, workshops, radio broadcasts and talks from Monday, June 9th-Thursday, June 19th. This programme builds towards the main festival weekend, Friday 20th-Sunday 22nd June, celebrating Midsummer with new performances and ambitious new site-specific installation commissions by internationally-acclaimed artists from Australia, the United States, France, Sweden, England, and beyond.
The climax of the festival in the Midsummer weekend, marking the longest day of the year, combines with the significance of 2014 as the 100th year since the outbreak of the First World War. TÖNE invites you on a journey through the seasonal, maritime and military resonances of Chatham and the Medway area.
We are looking for volunteers to asset with the preparations and smooth running of the festival from 4pm-10pm Friday 20th June; 4pm -late, Saturday 21st June and 12-6pm Sunday 22nd June. Please contact Victoria at:firstname.lastname@example.org or 07814591898 if you would like to get involved.
