Ideas Test are to join Arts Council England’s Creative People and Places National Portfolio from April 2022 to March 2025.
Ideas Test Director, Lucy Medhurst said;
Ideas Test is delighted to share the news that we’ve been successful with our application to join the portfolio. This represents a significant uplift in funding and a vote of confidence in our work and our contribution to Let’s Create over the next 3/4 years.
We look forward to being able to bring bold, ambitious and community-rooted work to the people of Swale and Medway that celebrates the full diversity of our area and both enhances and reflects the lives of its people, geography and history.
We would also like to thank all those in our communities across Swale and Medway who have been a part of our projects, programmes, and events since our launch in 2013.
Jatin Patel – Co-Chair of Ideas Test’s Board said:
This is a major milestone in the journey of Ideas Test. It will benefit the communities of Swale and Medway, and is a critical part of developments in the wider context of the growth of Medway’s cultural and creative identity.
Ideas Test was one of the first seven Creative People and Places projects in England, and in June 2020, also became a charity.
Our current projects include;
- Medway Light Nights festival in 2022, a commission from Medway Council & Emergency Exit Arts, and working with Cohesion Plus on a schools lantern parade and community digital art project focusing on belonging and identity.
- Co-commission with Creative Estuary for a piece of public art at Milton Creek Country Park in Swale – Artist chosen by a community panel to be announced soon.
- Make Waves, a creative producer programme for 18-25s in Medway
- You Me Us Too, a series of creative fun workshops for people feeling lonely or isolated across Swale and Medway
