It’s hoped it’ll encourage the exploration of art in open spaces, as well as introduce more people to the beauty of the park and all it offers.
Sculptures will be created at free public demonstrations at Barton’s Point, in conjunction with wood carving workshops, encouraging an engagement with age old pastimes and craftwork. Furthermore, the design of one of the 5 sculptures is to be chosen via a FREE competition, open to all age groups, with the designer having their name on the sculpture they designed! Closing date for entries is April 14th 2014. Click the link for competition details: Sculpture_Competition (1)
Project leader Mandy said: ” We are delighted we were successful in our application for funding, not only for the benefits of being a part of an exciting project, working with talented artists and our project partners ‘Sheppey Matters’, but also to become a part of history in creating the first ever Sculpture Trail on Sheppey which will hopefully encourage an interest and appreciation of woodcarving and the possibility of further installations elsewhere on the Island”.
