Our Board of Trustees and Consortium

As an arts charity, Ideas Test has both a Board of Trustees and a Consortium to oversee what we do as an organisation.

All our major decisions go through our board and consortium as a way of holding us accountable.


Board of Trustees

Our Board of Trustees is made up from a diverse group of people from across Medway, Swale and North Kent.

They have a wide range of personal and professional experiences and an interest in both arts and culture, community, and the area of Medway and Swale.

Together they;

  • make sure Ideas Test keeps to its charitable mission
  • make sure the company is well managed
  • are legally responsible for what we do.


Jatin Patel – Chair 

Jatin Patel is a fashion designer and Creative Director of KALIKAS ARMOUR, a fashion brand and creative consultancy based in Rochester. The Brand offers direct to client bespoke commissions along with collaborations with international charities and social organisations utilising creativity and artistic expression to open dialogue for impactful change including Fashion for Conservation, USA, and The Elephant Family, UK.
Experience includes lecturing, and teaching at various educational institutions and as a creative practitioner working in underprivileged schools devising and implementing creative projects and learning. Currently Champion of Spaces and Places working group for Creative Medway, contributed to the creation of the 10 Year cultural strategy Manifesto and Trustee for the Bid for Cultural City 2025.

Ally Sinyard

Ally is a freelance journalist, digital strategist and writer, with over 10 years’ experience working with global brands, consumer publications and content marketing agencies.
She writes about lifestyle and culture for titles including Stylist and Refinery29, has appeared on radio and podcasts talking about mental health and body image, and is currently working on her own creative writing projects. She’s also a keen film fan, British Champion in savate kickboxing and a Samaritans listening volunteer. Ally was born and raised in Chatham and Rochester.

Jane Howard

Jane has been CEO of Medway Voluntary Action, the Infrastructure organisation supporting and representing Medway’s voluntary sector, since 2013. Prior to this, she worked in Further/Adult Education both as a manager and teacher specialising in adult literacy. Jane has also led on a number of national education developments including the Skills for Life Strategy from 2001 to 2010.


Nigel Martin

Nigel has been head of Sheppey Matters for eleven years, leading a team of talented people delivering health and well-being projects on the Isle of Sheppey.
Previously Nigel has worked in senior positions in the travel and tourism sector including spells with Eurostar from its launch in 1994 and devising and delivering unique tour programmes for American students in the UK and Europe. He is also a qualified part-time youth worker with the county council, has one son and two grandsons and enjoys reading, occasional DIY and travel.

Rebecca Brennan-Brown

Rebecca is a producer and business owner based in Kent, working to elevate experiences through events. Since studying at UCA, Rebecca has worked her way from event assistant to creative director before opening The New Black Studio in 2019. Since then, she has been featured in the likes of The Times and Cosmopolitan and worked on events including the National Portrait Gallery Gala and Unicef Halloween Ball.

Sam Mohan

After relishing his experience as one of Ideas Test’s Young Producers for BLINK, Sam enjoyed his role as a Project Assistant for the Theatre31 youth empowerment programme.
He is currently doing an MBA, pursuing his passion for management, but community building through creative art activities is still close to his heart. 


From the beginning, Ideas Test has been guided by our Consortium in how we work with communities.

Our Consortium is a group of people, each representing local community, art, health and voluntary organisations from across Medway and Swale.

Together they help us make decisions about supporting our local communities through our events and projects.

Becky Farley

Becky is the Community Engagement and Commercial Director at MidKent College.



Heather Burgess

Heather is Co-Chair of Medway Arts Forum, Director of Sun Pier House


Stephen Perez

Stephen is the Co-ordinator at Arches Local “Big Local”, Chatham


Kimberley Reynolds

Kimberley is Director of Human Resources & Organisational Development and Chair of Medway Cares Charity



Consortium Special Observers

Our Consortium also has special observers that attend the quarterly meetings representing the following councils and organisations;

  • Kent County Council
  • Swale Borough Council
  • Medway Council
  • Royal Opera House Bridge 

Specialist Advisor

Gurvinder Sandher, Artistic Director, Cohesion Plus who deliver festivals and outdoor performances in North Kent. They are specialist advisers to the consortium on issues of community voice, diversity, inclusion and social cohesion through. At a time of increased hate crime and a lack of diversity and inclusion in some of our communities, this role is particularly vital.
