Hopes & Dreams: Make lanterns for The Pentagon Centre

** UPDATE: 6/1/21**

Due to the UK going into Lockdown due to Coronavirus measures, we’ve added information on where to post or drop off your finished panels – contact-free.

We’ve teamed up with local artist Xtina Lamb to help you bring the light of Hopes & Dreams to The Pentagon Centre this holiday season.

We’re helping ordinary – and extraordinary – people in Medway create panels for lanterns from things that you probably all have at home – plastic shopping bags.

It’s called Hopes & Dreams, so when you’re making your lantern art, think about things that make you feel positive.

What are you looking forward to? What makes you happy? Is it a person, an object or place, or something else?

Hopes & Dreams ‘How-to’ Sheets created by artist Xtina Lamb. Find out how you can get a sheet or Activity Pack below.

Hopes & Dreams – Activity packs

We have a limited number of packs for anyone in Medway who may not be able to access the internet, such as families, people aged 55+ or those self-isolating due to medical issues.

Each pack contains

  • Plastic recycled from shopping bags
  • Xtina’s ‘How-To’ sheet
  • Glue Stick
  • Safety scissors

If you are or know someone in the Medway area who would like a pack to make their own lantern panel then email us contact@ideastest.co.uk putting ‘Hopes & Dreams’ in the email subject.

We’d also love to see you making your creations on social media – Just use the hashtag #HADPentagon and we’ll share the best ones!

You can make parts of the lanterns at home, then Xtina will take all the pieces and join them together.

The lanterns will be hung in the Pentagon Centre and will grow and become more beautiful as more people join in.

Ideas Test would like to thank Medway Council, Chatham Town Centre Forum, The Pentagon Shopping Centre and Nucleus Arts for all their help and support.
