The Cache Dressmaker by Nicola Flower: The Stairwell Gallery

2nd July 2016 - 6th August 2016

Exhibition open Tues – Fri 11am-4pm & Sat 10am-3pm until 36 August. The exhibition is closed Mondays & Sundays.

A cache of 500 ‘deliberately concealed garments and objects’ was found in a Sittingbourne building a few doors down from No. 34. The textiles and objects were revealed in the floorboards, chimneys, bedroom walls and door frames as the building was demolished.

In response to this artist Nicola Flower, as The Cache Dressmaker, exhibits her hand made miniature garments and objects in the Stairwell Gallery and Window spaces at No.34 throughout July.

You are also welcome to visit The Cache Dressmaker 11am-3pm, 12-16 July as she creates, adds and conceals additional miniature cloth items live in residency at No.34.

Be part of the installation on Saturday 16 July 11am-2pm, bring a pre-worn square of fabric or small item of clothing you no longer need, to conceal for good fortune amongst the exhibition.

The Stairwell Gallery is a platform for local artists, who have been supported by Ideas Test, to showcase their work as part of a curated programme of monthly exhibitions opening on the first Saturday of every month. A complementary series of talks and workshops open to all provides an opportunity for both artist and audience to gain a greater understanding of the work.
