Ted Hannaford: 30 KM – World Record Breaking French Knitting
August 4 @ 11:00 am - September 2 @ 4:00 pmFree
Ted Hannaford was an extraordinary resident of Sittingbourne – The Guinness World Record Holder for making 30 km of French Knitting!
We’re celebrating his legacy & achievement across August by creating an installation with his vibrant knitting filling our front window to show the enormity of his project.
Starting in 1989, Ted created a chain of French Knitting that became a world-record winner, beating challengers in both France and Australia.
When Ted sadly recently died, his family and friends put a call-out for someone to do something to celebrate his extraordinary legacy.
We couldn’t resist!
Ted’s 30 km of french knitting has been temporarily stored in our basement since then.
We’re celebrating his legacy & achievement across August by creating an installation with as much of his vibrant coloured knitting we can fill our front window with. showing the enormity of his achievement.
With it we celebrate the extraordinary things all us ‘ordinary’ people achieve across our lives, just like Ted Hannaford.
Ted’s friends and family are looking for a home, or another project for Ted’s great achievement, as the conditions in our basement are not suitable for longer term storage.
