Spaced is a 15-minute show from Strangeface for 5 audience members about a small boy, Stalin and rockets that go wrong!

Performed with hand carved puppets on an ordinary table-top and using headphones just like a Silent Disco soundtrack the tiny tale is suitable for all. Reminiscent of animation classics such as Mr Benn or the Clangers adults have enjoyed this work as much as their children saying it is “original” and “delightful”.

On the same day the Strangeface team would like to invite you to make your own puppets in just 30 minutes. Using easily found materials such as garden canes and masking tape you will be able to create characters and even animate them in short story of your own. The puppets will be yours to take away at the end of the session.

Strangeface have been working with Ideas Test on this project since the 2014 Family Arts Festival running the sister show Beached in pubs and cafes under the banner The Pubbetry Project. Since then audiences have enjoyed watching this work in libraries, swimming pools, residential homes and garden centres!

This development also takes the piece into hospices and other groups to offer opportunity to be able to “play” together and record simple animations to keep.
