Opera House Next Door – Telling Stories

October 4 @ 2:30 pm - 5:30 pm

Free

Opera House Next Door are inviting participants to come along to a series of interactive workshops to help develop, design and road-test the interactive props, puzzles and clues for their forthcoming new opera production.

Alongside working with them on the interactive elements of the show, each workshop will explore one of the key building bricks of opera. With this in mind Opera House Next Door are aiming to help participants develop skills and knowledge of design aspects like initial mood board concept; what it means to make theatre in unusual spaces and ways; the notion of story telling through sound and how composers use the human voice to express emotion.

The emphasis will be on having fun while collaboratively solving creative design challenges.

In this Telling Stories workshop you’ll look at ways to tell stories using theatre and operatic practice. What stories make for good operatic material? Where might theatre happen (other than in a theatre itself)? Where should the audience be sitting/standing?

The Telling Stories workshop will be held at No.34 on Wednesday 4 October between 2.30pm to 5.30pm

Workshops will be led by opera activist Tania Holland Williams and members of the Opera House Next Door creative team.
