@futureCodersSE – Coding Workshops for 16-24s
January 17 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm£10
Are you between 16 to 24 and want to learn coding?
Ideas Test are hosting @futureCodersSE’s introductory 6-week workshop series.
Learn how to program Alexa – the voice system developed by Amazon for their products Amazon Echo and Amazon Echo Dot.
Alexa allows you to communicate with an app using your voice rather than by clicking or typing.
At @futureCodersSE you’ll not only get to learn and improve your coding skills but you’ll also explore how the design of apps need to be different when the app is voice-controlled.
Workshops are designed for anyone aged 16 to 24 from beginners to those who want an opportunity to take their coding skills further and learn something new, and meet new people.
At @futureCodersSE you will:
- Create Alexa skills using a graphical tool
- Learn to write, and test, simple Java code
- Learn how to connect the Java code to the skill to make it do something useful
- Get your skill online .
You can bring your own laptop to work on, but if you don’t have access to one there will be some available to use at the workshops.
You’ll also be able to access all the workshop resources online so that you can practice between sessions if you want to.
Plus if you enjoy the workshops and want to take it further, you can progress to @futureCodersSE project workshop series where you can work on your own projects, with their support.
The cost for the whole 6 weeks of Future Coders is just £10!
Just pay at the first workshop, or via Eventbrite (includes booking fee).

@futureCodersSE is an organisation, started in 2016, that aims to create great coders and to link them with employers.
Working with young people, aged between 16 and 24, @futureCodersSE helps them to learn how to code through their education programme of hackathons, coding workshops, project workshops and careers events.
@futureCodersSE also helps young people become more skilled and employable through a work experience programme, which certifies their skills, attitudes and behaviours in line with the SFIA skills framework, and introduces them to employers.
