Dan Scott – A Space Made By Listening: Exhibition
7th March 2017 @ 11:00 am - 31st March 2017 @ 4:00 pmFree
Are you a good listener? Sound artist Dan Scott has invited four individuals, whose job it is to listen, to share their tactics and techniques with him.
Between 7th-10th March each professional listener, including a priest and an improvising musician, will spend a day with Dan at No.34 sharing their experiences, techniques, and tactics for listening. Together they will make a small creative response to this dialogue. What emerges from these conversations can be heard at No.34 throughout March after the residency is completed.
On Saturday 11th March, between 11am to 2pm, No.34 will be holding a drop-in so you can meet Dan, test the listening advice, or even share your own.
Dan has previously worked with Ideas Test on We Know What We Like And We Like What We Know, a collaborative project with Trish Scott in 2013. The pilot project took three households in the Swale area, with little or no experience of contemporary art, and had each household commission an artist to make a bespoke artwork for their homes. The result was the creation of three artworks, a publication, a radio programme and a public discussion at the Whitstable Biennale Satellite.
